Jim McLean’s 8 Step Swing, which incorporates the swings of Ernie Els, Ben Hogan and Tiger Woods, is an additional feature many HD Golfers decide to add to their simulators. Step by step, a golfer is able to perfect every element of their swing. The simulator records and analyzes a golfer’s swing in real time. When the system detects that the golfer’s position and swing are out of the “corridor of success” or have committed a “death move”, the simulator will automatically alert the golfer and present virtual coaching from Jim McLean.
Up to this point you probably have about $800-$1,000 wrapped up in the OptiShot and your projector along with another $300 if you’ve built a permanent enclosure, but luckily those represent the last of the major purchases for your home golf simulator. The rest of the items used in the simulator can be purchased at your discretion to maximize the feel of a real golf outing.
I love this thing! I can play 18 holes anytime I want, rain or shine. Couple of points; Putting not so great but once you get the hang of it, not so bad either. I would recommend using the long/short tee on every shot. While it's pretty sturdy in the base, metal, the housing is plastic and the first one I had shattered on a miss hit by one of my friends who did not use a tee. Lesson learned. Excellent feed back on swing speed, plane and face position at impact. really has helped me correct some minor issues. I bought a Rukket 10x7ft Haack Golf Net (great product!) and use it indoor. You can swing without a golfball, of course, but I like the feel of the ball on the club face. What can I say, I've played 18 ... full review

The hardest part about setting up your golf simulator will finding a the right space. A common area of space that many home simulators use is 10 feet wide by 15 feet long by 10 feet high. The minimum code for basement ceiling height is 7 feet and the OptiShot simulator recommends at least 8.5 feet—we recommend even more height than that if you plan on swinging your driver in the simulator. With that said, generally speaking the best spot for setting up your home golf simulator will be in the garage.
I am beginner golfer, only playing 3 months. i got this to save on going to the driving range constantly. I have only used it twice. I can say it is not only is it fun to be able to go out an hit anytime I want, i have probably saved over $60 in driving fees. 2 more times and the net will have paid for itself. The net and mat combo is great for beginners like me. I can hit until I drop. They are both well made, and heavier constructed that I thought. It is well worth the cost to get something that is life time warrantied. Don't' save money on the cheaper ones. Get this. You won't regret it
The first comment I will make is if you go into purchasing this product assuming you will get the same accuracy as a $10,000 simulator, you shouldn't purchase this. Expensive professional simulators use ball tracking to provide the most accurate 'simulation' to an actual hit outdoors. They also require large equipment, and in most cases a dedicated room to be used solely for the golf simulator. This simulator uses swing (club) tracking to provide calculations and assumptions on where the ball should go.
On the premium side of the spectrum is aboutGolf’s Curve. Stated in the name, this simulator’s screen is constructed in a 180-degree arch, providing an immersive and panoramic aesthetic that’s boosted by ultra-HD resolution and custom lighting. A three-dimensional, high-speed camera and tracking system extract data from dozens of images per shot, providing accurate ball and club figures on any type of shot regardless of speed, spin or launch angle. A balance and weight-measurement system is placed under the mat to help you understand the distribution of weight, and the Curve’s data collection features an A.I. clubfitting process. As for gameplay, there’s no shortage of first tees, with 76 venues like St. Andrews, Pebble Beach, Whistling Straits and TPC Sawgrass.
